SUMMARY OF ROLE
By Joining us as a Field Service Engineer in Power and Water Solutions BU your role will be to support our customers at site (mainly power plants) by delivering activities required for maintenance, troubleshooting and incident resolution, technical support, system upgrade, warranty services, training, executing configuration and/or modifications, on call services to Ovation DCS/SIS and to Power and Water Cybersecurity Suite.
You will become part of our Lifecycle Services team, within the Automation Solutions division,
which helps our customers carry out maintenance, improve reliability and boost performance of
their Ovation DCS systems.
We typically engage with the latest technologies and products within the Ovation portfolio, with a
focus on Virtualization, System Upgrades, System Network and Cybersecurity enhancements through add-ons such as Backup & Recovery, Patch Management and Endpoint Security deployments and maintenance.
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for executing work according to the Emerson standards of safety and quality.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
• Product Knowledge
o keeping up to date with the latest developments and specializing in certain technologies and/or products for which you will be executing services; for example Ovation DCS platform, Ovation Network, Power and Water Cybersecurity Suite, Turbine control applications, Virtualization, Ovation Upgrades (physical and virtualised), Backup & Recovery, Patch Management, Endpoint Security, Ovation configuration, logics and graphics, SIS, etc.
• Customer Support
o Perform tasks for system maintenance and performance assessments.
o Provide technical support to customers. Lead in investigation and responsible for resolution of system related customer complaints and reported problems. Make troubleshooting of the problem, provide and/or recommend solutions to these complaints/problems. Will be in contact with Emerson Tech support group in Warsaw and USA to have more level customer support.
o Provide remote (phone, internet) technical support assistance for System users of Ovation DCS.
o Be able and willing to perform on-call shift based services (if applicable) and emergency call-out services to provide customers with fast and efficient services.
o Execute the requested job in the best way to meet customer’s deadlines and expectations.
o Communicate issues concerning customer satisfaction or customer requests for Emerson support to the responsible person in Service Management or Sales Management.
• Service Execution
o Execute Service tasks in accordance with Service Management Office guidelines and certifications.
o Use effectively Service tools (SMS, Guardian, etc) as well as other internal tools (CRM, INAZ, Clarity, Service App,…).
o Perform his job within a team and collaborating with other departments in a matrix organization as sales, projects, administrative, warehouse ….
o Adhere to local and international Emerson Trade Compliance procedures in connection with all transactions and business practices.
o Adhere to the company’s and customer HSEQ (Safety) standards at all times
o Keep workshop/workplace(s) tidy, in order and representative.
• Project Support
o Perform system acceptance tests, installation, commissioning, training, fault analysis and rectification work at customer sites and installations.
o Assist in design studies, H/W & S/W upgrades & modifications.
o Configuring/application management and support.
o Support project activities at customer site.
• Sales Support
o Proactively identify Service/Product opportunities and assist in their pursuit
o Assist in preparation of support literature for sales opportunities
• Safety Systems
o carrying out work on Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
• Customer Training
o providing on-site customer training in the application, service and operation of Emerson products
FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:
• Degree in an engineering discipline, such as mechanical / electrical, computer science, or control systems preferred.
• Good communications skills and fluent in Italian and English – written and spoken.
• Availability to work non-office hours, occasionally including weekends, to support customer and perform call-out services.
• Extensive travelling to customer site.
• Prepared to travel whenever necessary an on short notice
• Good computer skills.
• Driving license for car.
We are open to evaluate candidates both with and without work experience; in the first case as many a possibile of the following experiences are preferred:
• Knowledge on Information technology (IT) & Networking, Cyber Security, Virtualization, Programming Software, Operating Systems, Active Directory, Patch Management, Backup and Recovery.
• Technical competencies (electrical/electronic, power), Field Buses knowledge (Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870 (IEC 104/103/101), Profibus, Fieldbus, GE MARK V/VI, DNP3, etc.).
• Experience in process industry such as Power, Water, Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Refineries.
• Experience in DCS application (knowledge of Ovation DCS being an advantage).
• Experience in Turbine Control System.
• Start up and Commissioning Experience in the process automation, control performance
